What Are Calories Made Of?

Introduction
The actual question, and therefore the answer to "what are calories made of" is rather multi faceted, however; the calories that we are concerned with are the ones that add the pounds to our backsides. Knowing exactly what they are will give us a greater understanding of how to dispense with them, or rather their packaging, which we know more intimately as fat.

What are calories?
Calories, are units of energy (more about energy later) and as such do not have mass, they are weightless; however, the method we have evolved to store that energy, fat, has a great deal of both weight and bulk. What at one time would have been essential to our very survival has now become our nemesis. We in the developed world no longer experience famine and has such no longer require the ability to store several months supply of energy.

Calories, joules and energy
To do anything requires energy. In fact energy is often quoted as being the ability to move, lift, warm or light something. Typically; the units of energy are joules, however; prior to joules being defined, it was noted that to heat 1 gram of water by 1 Celsius requires a specific amount of energy. this amount of energy was termed a calorie. If you check the labeling on food packaging you will see the energy content shown in both calories and joules. A simple equation will show that one calorie is equal to approximately 4.2 joules.

What are food calories?
Where the calories in food are concerned the culinary and scientific interpretations differ; whether out of laziness or ignorance the reason is unclear. A calorie is a relatively tiny amount of energy and although our dietary requirements are often quoted as being between 1,500 - 2,500 calories, what they really mean 1,500 - 2,500 kilo calories (kilo meaning thousand).

A calorie defined
food, as with all molecules, are held together by energy. When we metabolize our food the energy is released for our use. Carbohydrates, starch and simple sugars all contain 4 kilo calories per gram, while a single gram of fat contains 9 kilo calories. Where the actual amount of work in one calorie is concerned; to lift an object weighing 1 lb to a height of 9 inches uses 1 joule. We can convert that into calories in two ways;

1 calorie = the energy used to lift 4.2 lb to a height of 9 inches
1 calorie = the energy used to lift 1 lb to a height of 36.8 inches

Conclusion
While energy, the ability to make things, is measured in joules, calories are the more commonly used units of food energy. Where our health is concerned; the problem is not with calories themselves, but with the highly visible way in which we store them for use later. Unfortunately we have developed the ability to store almost unlimited amounts which, as the medical world is keen to tell us, ultimately leads to a whole host of health problems unless we take it upon ourselves to control our calorie consumption and usage.

How to Lose Calories Fast - 3 Effective Ways

Studies have shown that cardio is without a doubt the best way to burn fat and lose calories. The good news is studies also showed that one can actually burn more fats and lose more calories doing less, instead of more of those tedious cardio sessions. Read more below to find out how.

To reduce fat cells and lose calories effectively and efficiently, one just needs 3 types of exercise variations.

1) Low intensity, slow training. These kind of slow speed, low effort workouts increase one's endurance and build fitness foundation. Long (> 45 minutes) sessions train muscles to keep going and in addition, they aid in recovery, refuelling the body for the more intense sessions on other days. 158 to 240 calories are burnt in one session of 45 to 60 minutes which is 4 calories per minute. Minimal effort is required.

2) Mid intensity, rhythm workouts. Mid intensity, medium-speed sessions push one close to one's anaerobic limit, which is the point the body transit from burning a higher percentage of fat to more carbs. One will be feeling somewhat out of breath. This ensures that calories burn at an effective rate at this stage. However, don't clock more than 2 of these sessions a week so that the body has time to recover between workouts. Burn 130 to 195 calories in a 20 to 30 minutes session which works out to 6.5 calories per minute. In terms of effort level, one can just hum a couple of lines of a favourite song during the workout.

3) High intensity interval training. This form of exercise will create a higher metabolic rate and speeds up calorie burning. It has been proven that 7 hours of high intensity interval training over a period of 2 weeks raises one's fat burning power compared to 12 hours of mid intensity workouts. However, such intense workouts will cause damage to muscles and does not aid in muscle repair and recovery although it does help build lean muscles. Overdo it and muscles can weaken. One can lose 80 to 200 calories in a 10 to 20 minutes session which translate to 8 to 10 calories burnt per minute. Because it is so intensive, the effort level is definitely high.

These 3 variations of cardio workouts mixed in one perfect week of cardio training can help achieve the optimal fat burning rate and lose those calories fast.

Tips To Losing Calories - Watch What You Eat

Many diets recommended out there actually cause people to gain instead of lose weight. This is because these diets deprive people of proper food consumption and make them so starved that they will tend to eat everything in sight when there is a chance. They are also deprived of the food they loved so that dieting becomes an unpleasant and stressful thing for them, and eventually give up dieting altogether. This article provides some tips to help a person diet effectively and efficiently to lose calories fast.

1) To ensure the body gets all the correct nutrients, eat food from all food groups. Don't eat the same food all the time. Try something new each day so that one will not get bored with the same old diet. An effective diet needs to be 50-55% carbs. Proteins should only make up 25-30% of the diet. Meat as a source of protein should be kept minimal. The body only needs 15-20% fats in the diet which is readily available in the form of sugar, cream et cetera.

2) Eat more fruits and vegetables. Always eat fresh instead of processed/canned fruits. Besides providing much more fibre, sugar level is also cut down. Vegetables is the best type of food source when it comes to losing calories. Besides fibre, leafy greens also contain lots of natural water and working them in a salad provides a sumptuous and healthy meal. Just watch out on the dressing, especially if cheese is included. Eating raw vegetables is the best as cooking them destroy the nutrients. If one must cook them, try to boil them to a point where there is still some crispness to them. Food like tomatoes, watermelons, cantaloupe, kiwi, grapes contain about 90-95% water so they can fill a person up without packing on the pounds.

3) Reduce meat intake. The more meat cut from the diet, the more fat can be reduced from the body. If meat is a must, then eat white instead of red meat. White meat includes chicken, fish and some other fowl. Red meat includes beef and pork. Pork has a high fat content so the less eaten, the better off for weight loss. Same goes for ham, bacon and sausage.

4) Set meal times and stick to them. An eating pattern will also help regulate what one eats and when one eats. Plan for 5 small meals a day rather than one or two huge meals. Eat only when hungry but not to the point of feeling starved.

5) Always share guilty pleasures like ice-cream, chocolates and desserts with friends and family. Sharing makes it more pleasurable plus one gets and flavour but not the calories.

There are actually more tips to eating than i can write here. Suffice to say that these 5 tips are the more crucial ones when it comes to correct dieting to lose those calories.

Losing weight through dieting should not be a torture. To learn how to diet effectively and efficiently to lose calories and yet enjoy the process, go to my website at http://www.losecaloriesfast.com/ where i share more useful content on weight loss and dieting.

Lose Calories With 3 Super Beneficial Work-Out At Home Exercises

I have always heard about people complaining about not having enough time to go to the gym to train or being too lazy to make the trip down to the gym. For others, it could simply be that gym membership is too expensive or they find it a waste of money to subscribe to one. While I agree that making the way down to the gym could be a bit troublesome, one does not actually need to go to the gym to have a good effective workout. In fact, working out does not need to involve very expensive gear, sophisticated equipment or a lot of space. If one does not know the right way to train, it makes no difference if he or she trains at the gym or not.

To sculpt great looking abs and body, one can simply start at home by performing dynamic total body exercises. These exercises work all the major muscle groups including the abs, at the same time, leading to greater fat loss and muscle gain. The body is designed to move and so, it is important to train it to keep moving and to keep moving efficiently. Anybody will find it useful and feel himself or herself getting fitter by including these 3 super beneficial exercises in their training program.

Squat with a Kick (lower body, abs, back, overall conditioning)

1: Start by standing with feet close together.

2: Keep arms up with elbows facing forward.

3: lower down into a squat as low as possible, keeping feet flat on floor.

4: As you stand back up, raise right knee up and extend to a kick.

5: Go back down into a squat when the right foot goes back down to floor.

6: Kick up with left leg, and then repeat on each side.

Inch Worms (Abs, back, hamstrings)

1: Begin in push-up position; perform a push-up, keeping stomach tight.

2: While keeping knees straight, raise hips and walk hands towards feet as fat as you can while keeping knees straight.

3: Walk hands back to starting position.

4: Repeat from the push-up.

Walkouts (Abs, back, legs, shoulders)

1: Start standing; bend over and place hands on floor.

2: Walk hands out until in the push-up position.

3: Walk hands back to standing position, and then repeat.

4: For a challenge, add a push-up at the end of each walk-out before returning to standing position.

Follow these 3 simple but effective routine without the need to use any gear or equipment at the comfort of home and start losing those calories fast.

How To Increase Your Metabolism and Burn More Calories

Speed Up Your Metabolism

First of all get the word diet out of your head, forget the diet and just learn to eat healthy. What is wrong with a diet? A lot, well first of all a "diet" is something temporary which means you have an intent of coming off it, and we know what that means, when you come off the diet, the fat comes right back on.

Learn to just really eat healthy and not starve yourself. Starving yourself and overkilling the cardio will result inmetabolic damage, which we will get into in a different blog. In a nutshell, when you damage your metabolism you essentially slow it down or shut it down. This means that your BMR, your caloric output while resting is lowered. If you naturally burn 1500 calories throughout the day while sedentary, that may lower requiring you to do more work and diet harder to get the same results. The problem with this is that you will always be playing cat and mouse until eventually you are left with eating 800 calories a day, doing 2-3 hours of cardio a day and a weight training workout and still the fat is not coming off. This is a clear indication of metabolic damage.

However, lets focus on the positive and how we can increase the metabolism, as now you understand what not to do.

Tip # 1

Don't get caught up in the traditional bodybuilding workouts. If your goal is to get lean and ripped, you do not need to train like a bodybuilder. Perform metabolic conditioning workouts. HIIT, and circuits are perfect for this, as hey push your body forcing your body to burn more calories throughout the day, not just in the gym. You should still do strength training workouts such a as bodybuilder as the more muscle you have on your body the more calories you will burn on a daily basis, this is why its important to not only do cardio. Having said that, do not base your whole regimen around that, mix it up and think outside the box.

Tip # 2

Eat a well balanced diet. We recommend carbohydrate cycling, this means gradually tapering carbs or doing 3:1 low-high carb ratio. Never go more then several days on a low carbohydrate diet, and the good news is that if you train with intensity and start to add in the metabolic circuits into your program your body will actually allow you to consume more carbs and still lose weight. If you find that your calories are already fairly low and you are still not dropping any weight, it may be time to have a high carb day or even increase your carbs all together. Ensure that your diet is well balanced and that you have a nutrient dense meal plan. This means lots of micronutrients as well as a good balance of macronutrients.

Tip # 3

Always ensure you are getting adequate sleep. Lack of sleep could slow down your metabolism as well fatiguing your adrenal glands. Ensure you are getting a minimum of 7 hours of sleep per day

Tip # 4

Hydrate your body adequately. People often underestimate the benefits of drinking enough but not too much water. If you drink enough water, you will burn more calories and your body will be able to focus on burning fat rather then trying to cleanse the body of toxins. This is why it's also important to consume healthier foods.

Tip# 5

Consume herbs and spices. Dressing your foods with herbs and species will acts as a natural thermogenic on the body and even regulates the bodies blood sugar levels. This means that by simply adding some spices you can raise your body's temperature, burning more calories.

Recommended Spices

Cinnamon

Ginger

Cayenne Pepper

Mustard

Follow those 5 simple tips to a leaner and healthier body, naturally. That is the key, to get your body in a state where it wants to burn calories and fat, and where it wants to stay lean, not the opposite.

Calculate your BMR. This is the amount of calories your body expends at rest.

Women: BMR = 655 + ( 4.35 x weight in pounds ) + ( 4.7 x height in inches ) - ( 4.7 x age in years )

Men: BMR = 66 + ( 6.23 x weight in pounds ) + ( 12.7 x height in inches ) - ( 6.8 x age in year )

Metric BMR Formula

Women: BMR = 655 + ( 9.6 x weight in kilos ) + ( 1.8 x height in cm ) - ( 4.7 x age in years )

Men: BMR = 66 + ( 13.7 x weight in kilos ) + ( 5 x height in cm ) - ( 6.8 x age in years )

Lose Calories Fast - How To Tone Abs Using Crunches

To achieve a flat stomach, exercising is inevitable. Crunches is the ideal way to tone the abdomen and one of the many toning exercises that should be done on a daily basis to achieve the much sought after sexy, washboard stomach.

To do crunches, lay flat on back and bring knees up so that feet are flat on the floor. Put hands behind head and pull up towards knees, concentrating fully on the abdominal muscles. Isolate the muscles while pulling up so that one feels the strain. Do repetitions of 8 crunches. Strive to do as many repetitions as one can without hurting oneself. If in pain, stop immediately.

The purpose of the crunches is to build abdominal muscle. The way to build that muscle is to tear it a little, let it heal and then tear it again. This is where the pain is felt when doing crunches. The abdominal muscles are actually built up so that the stomach becomes more taut and well-defined. When a person first starts doing crunches, he/she will notice that it is quite a strain and that it is difficult. As one carries out this exercise daily, he/she will notice that it is easier to do and will start feeling the difference. The strain will no longer be noticed after some time. The more one practices the crunches, the better toned one's tummy will become.

Crunches will flatten and tone abdominal muscles, but this is not the only exercise that is needed to do in order to get the perfect abdomen. One also needs to work on side to side crunches. Side to side crunches will help to develop the sides of the abdominal muscles. Just as one move up straight, one will also want to move to the side. Start with one side and pull up to lean towards that side. Do 8 repetitions, just as with the center crunches. After completing for one side, work on the other side. It is important when doing toning exercises to allow muscles to relax after each repetition of crunches. Take a few deep breaths and relax the muscles after performing the crunches. When performing the crunches, however, tense up the muscles, effectively isolating them so that they will get toned. Remember that one needs to work the entire abdominal area to achieve the look of a sculpted six-pack. Do both front crunches as well as side crunches that are performed on the back and side to achieve this.

Crunches may seem difficult at first, but will soon become easier. Increase the repetitions for more effective results. One usually see visible results after a week of performing these exercises. Try to do these exercises every day. If there is a need to skip a day, for some reason, just pick up the next day. Do not get discouraged if one get out of the habit. It is more important to get back into the habit as soon as possible.

Ways To Cut Calories For Weight Loss

"Small changes mean big results in the long run" - Anthony Robbins

Are you looking for little tips that applied on a daily basis can equate to results in the long run? Or perhaps you're looking for an edge to give your pre-existing diet plan? You've come to the right place. This is a list of little sneaky ways you can cut calories to your everyday diet that on a long term basis, cause weight loss. As much as this can be an effective tactic, I would sincerely suggest a direct approach to weight loss in addition to this. Direct approach meaning: dropping 50 pounds through strict diet, self control and exercise. However if a strict diet isn't up your ally, this will help you anyway, enjoy!

Oh but before I get started with the list; here's some motivation for you. Cutting 100 calories a day = 10 pounds in a year. 250 calories = 26 pounds! These are very easy to implement and don't require any effort.

Breakfast

-Eat wholegrain instead of refined carbohydrates (brown bread as opposed to white bread) as this gives a sustained release of energy. Refined products spike your insulin, shoot you with energy and you go on a sugar crash, depending on how much you ate. Sugar lows result in hunger pangs and make you desperately claw for an easy sugar fix. Wholegrain mitigates this affect so you're less likely to rush to a food source and gorge yourself. Oatmeal, fruits and vegetables are also great options for sustained release of energy.

-Eat bacon instead of sausage with your eggs.

-Eat a yeast doughnut instead of the denser kind.

-Pour more milk and less cereal into your bowl.

Lunch

-Adding low fat cottage cheese to a plain salad can make it much more filling and make you less likely to want to add something more substantial to it or eat something later.

-If you order a burger, ask for it without the cheese.

-If you order a beverage at the cinema or drive-through (if you really have to) get the small.

-Select wholegrain bread for your sandwich.

-Choose shredded parmesan instead of sliced cheese. The taste of cheese is still there but you just consume less.

Dinner

-Trade butter for trans-fat free margarine

-Choose thin slice crust if you get a pizza

-Add more water to your soup

Snack

-When making a cake or muffin, replace half (or all) of the butter with mashed banana or applesauce to reduce calories.

-Eat a chocolate coated strawberry instead of a bar of chocolate.

Cheats

-Eat fruit before every meal. In a Pennsylvania State University study, people who munched apples 15 minutes before lunch ate about 187 fewer calories.

-Share one big meal with a friend instead of ordering and eating two separate meals.

One Pound Is Equal to 3500 Calories of Energy

I just assumed that people knew. That was until I asked a friend and then my brother about how many calories were in a pound. Neither one of them knew. Well, I learned what happens when you assume!

As a result, I thought I would educate others who might not know. After all, it is time for New Year's resolutions!

If a person wants to lose weight (or gain, for those fortunate ones that need to), there has to be a caloric deficit/expenditure that is the equivalent of 3500 calories of energy. In other words, to lose a pound of weight, you need to be engaged in some type of activity that will expend (burn) this many calories of energy OR you could deny yourself this many calories in your diet OR you could combine both physical activity AND food restriction to accomplish the loss of one pound of weight.

Many people contend that I am oversimplifying this. Not making the achievement of weight loss easy as possible usually results in no improvement. I have been raised on the KISS principle - Keep It Simple, Stupid!

The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the "gold" standard organization in the health and fitness industry, would suggest a 1-2 pound weight loss per week. This is the equivalent of 3500-7000 calories expended through physical activity/exercise or denied through diet or a combination of diet and activity per week. To simplify, divide the 3500 or 7000 calories by 7 days per week. This becomes a 500 or 1000 calorie per day "proposition".

Because ACSM also recommends successful weight loss through a combination of diet and activity/exercise (based on the research), this is what I would suggest too. (Check out the National Weight Control Registry.) You could deny yourself 250 calories per day and pick up additional activity/exercise for the other 250 calories per day. This would make a deficient/expenditure of calories per week that would be the equivalent of 1 pound of weight loss per week.

One of the simplest activities to include in a daily routine, is walking. You don't have to have special clothes just comfortable shoes and you can walk inside/outside. How many calories would a person expend by walking?

Let's assume that a person weighs 170-pounds and has decided to walk their dog for 1 hour per day (30 minutes in the morning and then again in the evening). This person would expend 230 calories as a result of this activity (more body weight person would expend more when walking the dog). Combine one hour of walking (activity) with one scoop of vanilla ice cream (1/2 cup) instead of two scoops. One scoop is 137 calories compared to the almost 250 calories in two. A 12-ounce serving of Coke has 136 calories. Deny yourself one of your sodas/per day and you are on the way to reaching your goal of losing 1 pound per week.

I strongly encourage you to record your activity/exercise AND food intake. This way you can't "cheat" and wonder why you aren't meeting your goal of weight loss.

There are numerous iPhone/Android apps to help you record your physical activity/exercise and food intake. Most of them are simple yet effective in getting a "real-time picture" of your habits. I have found favor with the app, Lose It, but there are many others that might be of value to you with an app search or asking others.

Just remember, you didn't gain the weight in a week or a month or even 6 months (most likely). Consistency of effort is one key to losing it (daily efforts). Focus on losing 1-2 pounds per week. Give it time AND consistent effort!

Good luck!

Count the Calories You Burn a Day to Maximize Your Weight Loss

Counting calories that you eat is important, but you must not forget to count the calories you burn off also. It is essential to take the whole caloric picture into consideration to get the most out of your calorie counting efforts.

Before you start counting calories you burn a day you should determine your body mass index.

How do you figure out your body mass index? - Find a website that will help you to calculate your BMI. Just Google "how to figure out body mass index" and you should have no trouble finding one. The site will ask you for your height and weight. For me I am 5'7" and weight 155. So my BMI is 22.7.

Don't let the numbers confuse you. Underweight is under 18.5, normal weight is 18.5-24.9, overweight is 25- 29.9, and obese is 30 or more. Determining your BMI is a great way to find out how much you need to achieve healthy weight levels. For some it might be a harsh wake up call, but don't let that deter you let it motivate you more to make healthy choices.

Once you figure out your BMI and how many calories to eat a day, here is a great way to keep track of them. Smart phones are insanely popular now with all kind of apps for just about everything. If you have surfed around in an app store you know I'm right. I have heard of apps to know when your wife is on her period. I guess that might be beneficial information to some husbands.

But the statement, "there's an app for that" applies to almost anything. There are plenty of apps for counting calories on smart phones and it only takes a few minutes a day to do it. So if you have a smart phone you have no excuse to not count your calories.

Smart phone counting calorie apps give you the ability to track what you eat and how many calories you have burned during exercise. The new age of technology makes life so much easier and losing weight too.

For those that don't have a smart phone counting calories is not that hard. Get you a food journal. Write down what you eat during the day and how many calories the food contains. This might sound like a hard task to begin with but just like anything else it will get easier with a little practice.

You should also write down the calories you burned while exercising to keep up with all your calories so you know how many you have eaten and how many you have burned off exercising.

So with your smart phone or food journal in hand you have what you need to keep a tally on how many calories you burn a day. Get busy counting your calories and maximize your weight loss.

Count Your Calories - Lose Weight When You Figure Out How Many Calories To Eat a Day

Food is a big part of a lot of everyone's life. We have to figure out what we are eating for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. It is even more difficult when you are preparing meals for a whole family. Ain't that right moms?! Sometimes you even have to plan ahead for meals a few days in advance. Since we pay so much attention to food we should know how many calories to eat a day. My advice to anyone trying to lose weight is count your calories.

As important as food is in our everyday lives, we should not let it rule over us. In the western world there is a huge problem with obesity. We as a whole eat too much fast food, sugar, and processed foods. The trend of obesity can be reversed if people simply know how many calories to eat a day.

So how can you figure out how many calories to eat a day? The daily recommended calorie intake differs from different people and from men and women. You need to consider your age, height, and weight to figure out how many to eat a day.

Here are some simple tips to help get you started.

1) Determine Your BMR - What is BMR? BMR is your basal metabolic rate or the number of calories your body burns without any effort.

The formula for women is 655 + (4.35 x weight in pounds) + (4.7 x height in inches) - (4.7 x age in years) = BMR.

The formula for men is 66 + (6.23 x weight in pounds) + (12.7 x height in inches) - (6.8 x age in years) = BMR.

2) Figure Out Your Activity Levels - Everyone falls into 1 of 5 categories when it comes to activity: either sedentary, lightly active, moderately active, very active, or extra active. The numbers should go as follows sedentary- 1.2, lightly active - 1.375, moderately active - 1.55, very active - 1.725, and extra active - 1.9.

Be honest with this one, if you workout every blue moon you can't say you are extra active.

3) Use the Harris Benedict Formula - Multiply the number you come up with in #1 by #2. The number will determine how many calories you should eat to maintain your current weight. So if you want to lose weight eat less than what number you come up with and exercise more.

Women should never eat under 1200 calories a day and men should never eat under 1500 calories a day.

Using the Harris Benedict Formula will easily help you to figure out how many calories to eat a day. Learn how to count your calories and losing weight will come a lot easier than it has in the past.

For reasons of their own, some people decide to never workout with weights. Just why might someone avoid lifting weights? Everyone is different. Some people take action to lose weight while others want to build muscle. The exact reasons pertain to the specific goals of those involved. Some make a half-hearted attempt at working out, then throw in the towel. Some people cannot seem to make up their minds to go ahead and get started. Many fear the unknown, and are scared to begin.

Have you contemplated about whether or not to start working out with weights? If you remain undecided, listed below are three good reasons in favor of lifting weights that you need to consider.

Firstly, working out with weights is the fastest way to lose fat, build muscle and start seeing results. I am aware of the idea that some people have about not knowing where to start and about causing an injury. That may be a really good point, and correct. However there are several easy ways to get started. If it's in your budget, the best way to get started would be to hire a personal trainer and work with her for at least two or three months. Especially if you are new to working out with weights. At that point you may feel confident enough to go it on your own. There are several other good ways to ease into to working out with weights. You could purchase several inexpensive workout DVDs and start at home. Or you could go online and buy an exercise information program delivered as an e-book, e-manual or by video.

Secondly, lifting weights will increase your overall muscle mass. This will result in an increase in your basal metabolic rate so you will burn more calories even at rest. Building muscle mass is not created from long cardio workouts on the treadmill or elliptical trainer. Moreover, lifting weights two or three times each week will not have you looking like an amazon on the cover of a bodybuilding magazine. Also your clothes will start fitting better and your results will become noticed by friends, family members and co-workers soon after starting a two to three day per week weight lifting regimen.

Thirdly, recent research has shown that lifting weights can have a beneficial effect on balance. This means that weight lifting workouts should be a part of every older person's fitness routine. Once more, you may want to consider your reasons for not working out with weights and take a look at all of the reasons why you should start. Then think of the benefits you would enjoy; weight loss, building lean muscle, burning more calories all day long, less neck and back pain and a host of others!

Now, once you examine these reasons, you will find that they're pretty compelling. And, considering all of that, a case can be made for having a serious look at ways to incorporate weight training into your exercise and fitness regimen.

Think about all of the benefits that you will gain from a regular weight lifting routine. You have nothing to lose and lots to gain.

Hello, my name is Gene, and I'm going to tell you what you can do right now to start losing weight. I have put together five simple steps that you can follow to become the best you can be.

Most people trying to lose weight have a love-hate relationship with calories. You can't live without calories; your body needs them for energy and to function properly. Yet too many calories can also lead to unhealthy weight loss or gain. So how many calories do you need to stay fit? While there are some general guidelines, the number of calories a person needs is highly individual. Age, weight, height, and activity level are all factors.

1. Stop eating too much greasy foods. Again... I'm not telling you that you can't eat pizza and fried chicken, but too much fast food can lead to weight gain. This is something everybody knows, but is one of the most important points. If you take in too many calories, your body will have to burn them, and without enough exercise, you will gain body fat.

2. Do not skip meals: Do not starve yourself, or your body will go in to starvation mode, and your metabolism will slow down.

3. Eat more frequent and smaller meals through the day. This will prevent your body to go in starvation mode, and keep your metabolism on the right track.

4. Try to eat as healthy as possible. Start by trying to skip sodas and greasy foods for a week. And don't eat too much meat. Try eating and fish and vegetables. There are hundreds of delicious recipes online for vegetables and fish.

5. Exercise!!! This is really important, because without it your body can't lose the calories as fast as it gets them in. I don't say you have to go to the gym every day and work out for hours. If you simply jog 5 miles a week it can be enough to lose the calories.

There are many more things you can do to lose weight. But by following these simple 5 steps, I am sure you will lose weight. The two most important things to do when you want to lose weight, is to eat healthy and exercise frequently. The only thing standing in your way to lose weight right now is YOUR will to do what it takes. Remember, without any action, you won't see any results.
