Dieting Tips That Will Help You Achieve Your Goals and Then Some!
"What?!?", you might be thinking. "Doesn't Dr. Peter Osborne, the Gluten Free Warrior, recommend a gluten-free diet?"
Well, the answer is yes, absolutely.
But what I mean is that all of those so-called 'gluten-free' products you see in stores, bakeries, and even in pizza shops are a complete joke. They are ALL lies.
You see, it doesn't matter whether you've been 'gluten free' for a while, or just discovered you're gluten sensitive, it's likely you're not getting better because, as Dr. O says, you're
still eating at least one of these common 'gluten free' foods:
1. Corn
From corn tortillas to corn chips to corn flakes, despite what you've heard, corn is NOT a safe gluten free alternative. On the contrary, corn contains a gluten protein called zein, and while it hasn't been studied nearly as aggressively as the wheat gluten, gliadin, researchers are finding that people with gluten sensitivity do react to it.
2. Rice
This one probably comes as a bit of surprise, but yes, even rice has gluten in it. In reality though, the academic argument has never been over whether or not rice contains gluten,
but rather whether or not the type of gluten in rice creates damage. And like its gluten protein cousins, zein and gliadin, research suggests that rice gluten can cause inflammation in the gut of children.
3. & 4. Millet and Buckwheat
Living things generally don't like to be eaten by other living things. That's why skunks spray, dogs bite, and porcupines have sharply pointed quills. But what about plants with seeds, like millet and buckwheat... how do they protect themselves from being eaten? Simple, they contain anti-nutrient properties, such as gluten, lectins, and phytates, all of which wreak havoc on your body. I'll dive into these anti-nutrients another day, but suffice to say, researchers now believe that "The allergens in rice, corn, millet and buckwheat should be better studied before they can be recommended as alternatives for cereal allergic children."
5. Quinoa
Now this one just might be the most surprising on the list. Ever since being touted as a safe alternative to wheat, rye, barley, and oats, quinoa consumption has been on the rise. So why does Dr. O say you should avoid it?
The problem with quinoa is that it's often processed in a facility where other gluten-basedgrains are processed, and this cross-contamination, even microscopic amounts, can lead to unpleasant, even dangerous, reactions for some.
Plus, new research shows that some quinoa varieties are capable of stimulating an immune response as toxic as wheat gluten, and you begin to understand why quinoa should not be a part of a diet to lose weight.

What Is a Good New Year's Resolution? - Finding the Motivation to Achieve Your Weight Loss Goals
What is the first step one must take to develop a life changing habit? A habit that will transform your physical appearance, instill a solid work ethic, and incorporate into your mind the necessary motivation and confidence to overcome ANY obstacle you encounter. The answer is quite simple... in fact, you will be thrilled to know that you have already taken this crucial first step!
The answer lies in the simple "IDEA" that you have decided you would like to improve your physical appearance. Think of it this way... The person you have become at this very moment, and the habits you have become slave to are a direct result of one thing. The ideas that you have fostered and the actions you have performed as a result of those ideas. This is the beauty of the human mind. You have the power to plant a tiny seed (your idea), apply proper water and sunlight ( finding motivation and performing actions), and allowing your seed to grow and flourish into the tallest, healthiest redwood in the forest ( your own personal universe)!
All successful people have acquired and utilized this knowledge. Imagine the things you could accomplish once you have accepted this theory. The theory that you are the master creator of your own personal universe. Great, so now what? We have laid the foundation to our future simply by realizing that we already possess the power to change everything about ourselves and our environment. Now we need to build on that foundation. This is where things may get a little tricky on you, depending on what pre-conceived notions you have about yourself. DO NOT get discouraged just yet, you still have much to learn about your potential!
The next great quality we must learn to master is self-confidence. With the proper motivation we can accomplish ANYTHING! This is no secret... However, this second step seems to be the hardest for most people simply because they do not stay motivated. When you form an idea that you strongly believe in you get a rush, a natural high if you will. At the moment of your idea you are instantly motivated to transform that idea into a reality. Therefore motivation is not something you need to acquire. Motivation is a quality you that you already possess! The only trick to this is to maintain your motivation. You have to base your life around this idea you had. Constantly remind yourself of your goals and the path will present itself to you.
With proper maintenance of your idea, your motivation will seem endless. Thus allowing you to ACT on your IDEA with CONFIDENCE. This is a fool-proof approach to conquering any goal. This simple knowledge will enable you to create and control your own personal universe. So what are you waiting for? ACT ON IT!
New Year, New Beginning: How To Get The Best Results Whatever Your Goals
It is such a relief to know that every morning we can start fresh with a clean slate and that we can do that any time during the year. A new year is simply a reminder for most people of a promising new beginning. As they say, out with the old (the old that's not working so well, that is) and in with the new.
You have made it past a very busy holiday season. Let us evaluate how you are making time for your own fitness, your own passions and your recovery from those things. It all begins with setting goals and making a decision to work toward them.
Henry Ford had said, "Obstacles are those frightful things that you see when you take your eyes off your goal." Let's look past the obstacles right now and find out: what would you like to do?
Are you balanced in these areas of life: finances, career, social, family, passion, spirituality, relaxation, health/fitness, service to others, self education? If on a scale of 1 to 10 you could score yourself and how much time you spend in each category, then what would that look like? I encourage you to make a list of each life area above and score yourself, 10 means you are heavily invested in a life area, and 1 means you have very little or no investment in that life area. If your numbers are very low in certain areas, then to increase your focus in those categories will help you achieve overall balance and improvement in all areas.
Make a number line for each life area and put numbers one through ten spaced evenly on each line. Then score yourself on each line and see if your zig-zagging all over the place. The lower the number, the more emphasis you need to put on that life area.
Go back to the first question of what you would like to do and apply that to those areas where you are spending the least amount of time. This is where you can see major positive shifts in 2013 toward progress.
If, for instance, you score lowly in the area of health/fitness what are you doing today and what are you willing to sacrifice to help you focus on that very important aspect of your life? Are you seeking weight loss? Will you choose to integrate walking in your day 6 days per week? If you already do that and it's not enough (because your body is amazing at adapting), then will you integrate 3-4 days per week on interval strength training? How is your nutrition? Be honest. Are you getting 10-13 servings of fresh, raw fruits and vegetables every day? What small steps can you take to work toward that? These are merely examples of assessing your health/fitness life area.
Take small steps in the right direction. Add 20 minutes three days each week of increased exercise or a whole food supplementation to increase your produce. Get these new changes under your belt for three weeks before you integrate a new change (like drinking more water) and turn that into a habit. It takes about 21 days to make a habit of something new. The biggest mistake you can make is to take on too much too soon and then burn out. Slow and steady wins the race.
Are you having difficulty with toxic people or situations? Are you finding support for your challenges? Is life caving in on you? If so, or, if you simply want to expand your personal development -another great resolution, then please consider reading a fascinating book on drawing boundaries. It is called Boundaries: When to Say Yes, When to Say No to Take Control in Your Life by Drs. John Townsend and Henry Cloud.
New starts are one of the best blessings we get every day, let alone every new year. They are refreshing and help us to get past our failings and create success. "The ignorant of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and re-learn." (Alvin Toffler)
Best of luck and Happy New Year!

5 Reasons Your Weight Loss Goals Suck
The need to lose bodyfat and carry a healthier weight has never been more evident - or more obvious - than it is in the western world today. Yet the common practice of setting weight loss goals is a big mistake for most people - and here are just 5 of the reasons why you shouldn't set weight loss goals, even as your New Year's resolution.
1) Its Too Easy To Underestimate The Fat You Need To Lose...
If you set your goal based on what you think you need to lose, it's all too easy to temper your weight loss goal by the amount you think you can easily lose. No one likes to think of themselves as obese, so the tendency is to say 'I need to lose 10 pounds', or 20 at most. Truth is, you may need to lose 40 or 50, but seldom does one want to admit they're that overweight. As a result, achieving your weight loss goals will leave you discouraged - you convinced yourself you'd be fine just losing 10 pounds, but now you realize you've barely started your weight loss journey. Since you feel you've already denied yourself so much, it's easier to go back to your old nutrition habits and decide that 'diets don't work for me.'
2) Its Too Easy To Overestimate The Fat You Need To Lose...
When your goal is based on another person, the opposite problem can occur. Reading that your favorite celebrity lost 50 pounds, that a co-worker lost 25 pounds, or seeing an old friend in a little black Size 0 dress can lead to you thinking that if they can achieve that, so can you. Two problems can arise from setting your goals based on another person - first you don't know what they did to lose the weight - it could be due to illness, a body-chemistry hormonal imbalance or, in the case of celebrities especially, unhealthy practices like drugs or starvation diets. And second, they simply aren't you. People differ in their physical makeup - bone density, amount of musculature their frame can support, amount and distribution of fat cells, etc. If your body can't physically get to that goal weight you'll leave yourself depressed with a feeling of failure. You might also give in to the urges to act irresponsibly and use dangerous methods to get to that goal - eating disorders are born of this attitude!
3) Weight Loss Goals Promote A Short-Term Attitude Toward Your Health...
A weight loss goal means you're going to be 'dieting' - depriving yourself of some of the foods you want to eat, especially those sweet comfort foods modern society dotes on. So say you're successful in losing 20 pounds - now what? Since psychologically you've been punishing yourself by withholding treats for being overweight, there's no reason to keep up the punishment now that you're at your desired weight. Returning to your previous habits is the most common course of action, and the cycle of yo-yo dieting remains unscathed. Be ready to have that same goal next year...
4) Weight Loss Goals Lead To Loss Of Muscle And Dehydration...
For most people, once they've decided how many pounds they want to lose there's no time to waste - they want the weight gone as quickly as possible, and the scale is their only measurement tool. Crash diets ensue, and their bathroom scale tells them what a great job they're doing. Problem is, the scale only measures total bodyweight, not differentiating between lean muscle mass, bodyfat levels, bone and water content. Much of that initial weight loss is water weight, teaching your body to retain more water since you're not giving it enough to maintain proper levels.
Worse yet, losing more than 2 pounds per week usually means the weight you're losing is about 60% muscle and 40% bodyfat. Your body keeps only the muscle it perceives a need for in the near future, as anyone trying to build muscle can attest. By forcing it to burn off more muscle you're weakening your body and creating an internal crisis. Coupled with the fact that you've actually lost very little bodyfat, you've lost muscle, dehydrated your body and weakened your immune system - was that your intention?
5) Weight Loss Goals Exclude Your Health...
Interwoven throughout the first 4 points are just some of the ways this type of dieting behavior is harmful to your health - as dieting almost is except for the morbidly obese under clinical supervision. Worst of all it keeps you focused on weight issues instead of on your overall health. For your physical, mental and emotional health it's far wiser to slowly adopt a healthy lifestyle. Start by working towards a healthy diet and taking daily walks lasting 30 - 60 minutes. Eliminating unnecessary sugars and excess carbohydrates from your daily meals and the simple exercise of those daily walks will start you losing the bodyfat you want to lose while strengthening your body and your immune system.
You'll slip a bit at first, but just accept it and get back on track - don't stress out over these slips, but don't let them derail your long-term plans either. Before long you'll have replaced your former bad habits with these healthy habits, and once they're second nature you can replace your walks with exercise on any 3 non-consecutive days each week. Hit the gym or set up a home gym to protect and/or increase your lean muscle mass, and if you need to burn more fat, add in some high intensity interval training (HIIT) once your mind and body are ready for it.
And for your own sake, throw out that bathroom scale. It really does give you no useful information and brings a lot of stress and trepidation into your consciousness every time you notice it, never mind actually stepping onto it. At first, use your existing clothes and your mirror to gauge your progress - before long you'll know how you're doing just from the compliments and second looks you get as you go about your daily life!

Weight Loss Goals - 4 Benefits That Will Help You Keep The Weight Off
Your weight loss goals will determine the difference between failure and success.
Goals are extremely important in business and careers. So why are they so neglected when it comes to health?
You need a plan to succeed in any area of life. Fitness and weight loss should not be any different. Also you need to write down goals that are measurable and achievable.
One important part of writing goals and achieving them is to write realistic goals. Don't write down, "I want to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger," when you are skinny as Screech off of Saved by the Bell. Not everyone is going to look like Arnold Schwarzenegger no matter how hard you work.
So what are some of the benefits of writing your goals that will help you keep the weight off?
1. Help With Motivation - Motivation is one of the hardest struggles people face when trying to lose weight. What are you going to do next time you don't want to workout? Not workout? I hope not especially if you want to meet your weight loss goals.
If you keep your goals with you and look at them everyday that will help keep you motivated. It will help you go to the gym when you don't feel like it, it will help you lace up your running shoes and go for your morning run.
2. Overcome Setbacks - Setbacks will happen no matter what goal you are trying to meet. You might have a bad day where you eat some junk food or overeat. You might go a few days without working out for whatever reason.
Setbacks are going to happen. What you do when the setbacks come is what is important. Don't let a setback cause you to completely fall off the wagon. Use it as motivation to press forward and work harder.
When you have your goals written down where you can see them, they will help you to overcome setbacks and stay motivated to keep pressing on even during difficult times.
3. Busting plateaus - At some point in your journey to meet your weight loss goals you will hit a plateau. When you hit a plateau it is like hitting a wall with your weight loss.
But having your weight loss goals written down on paper will help you bust through your plateau.
4. Keep Your New Year's Resolutions - Every January gyms are full of motivated individuals trying to make a positive change in their lives. What happens in February? The packed gyms become ghost towns for the most part.
Why? Because the majority of those people did not write their weight loss goals down.
Put down on paper what you want to accomplish. If you want a six-pack, write it down. If you want to lose 10-15 pounds, write it down. Whatever it is, write it down.
When it comes to making positive changes in your life you want to have long-term success not just short-term. Putting your weight loss goals down on paper will help you to keep the weight off.

Outside All The Sometimes Messy and Confusing Personal Fitness Noise, It Is About Three Body Goals
When I started over a year ago dedicating myself to creating a platform blog for people to come and look at product reviews for home fitness products, I was literally all over the map in my approach.
By this I mean that I was totally clueless on how to exactly create an organized structure for my audience. I was reviewing a lot of products, some related closely to other products, and some totally not. This was the basic old tale of the blind man and the elephant come to life. More or less I was looking for a way to connect with my readers and find out exactly people were interested in, thus making it easier to sell to them.
--The Thing I Missed was An Understanding of What These Products as A Whole Were Designed to Do
The problem was that I was not seeing patterns and the larger picture. I was not seeing patterns because I was probably not seeing the similarities in every home workout program or home workout equipment on the market. I was instead behaving like a lot of people who are serial dabblers in the next "shiny new object"hoping to create the magic to get themselves fitter. I can attest that this unfocused mindset is just as counter-productive for the marketer as it is for the person trying to get fit.
So I sat down and thought it through. I studied my notes on the many clients and workout colleagues I have known through the years. I started seeing meaningful patterns at this point maybe because I was now looking for them. It became apparent that people who had health and fitness goals were wanting 1 of 3 body appearance outcomes at any one time. That's it.
--The Three Desired Body Appearance Outcomes Everyone Wants
People either want to lose weight generally, or want to get ripped fit ("toned" might be the word if you are a woman), or add muscular size (a goal seen most often with men) That's it. I thought about in my own case and if I looked honestly at my fitness goals at any one time, I was either looking to lose weight, or get more toned.
Here's the kicker: I realized that where I'd failed in the past was wanting to do too much, too fast, and mixing my desired outcomes. For example, I would want to lose weight and look super toned by x date. Then I'd get uptight when maybe it wasn't happening according to the schedule I either envisioned, or was expecting from the pitch which came with whatever product.
--Why Knowing The Three Desired Body Outcomes is Important for Sellers and Buyers
Simply put from a seller's perspective, when you try to market to everyone, you often end up marketing to no one. I found as a seller I wasn't effectively speaking to my audience because I didn't have an audience which was clearly defined. What I actually had was a dream of hitting it big which wasn't backed up by the facts or solid preparation.
So when I took each product and went back and figured out which of the three markets (desired body outcomes) each product fit into, I started to make progress. Check out what Marketing Expert Dan Kennedy has to say about the importance of knowing your market.
Oops. Better late than never I guess.
From the consumer of fitness products perspective, the lessons were a little less clear. We'll focus more on the fitness consumer's vital lessons and beneficial strategic mindsets in greater detail in future articles. Suffice to say right now that you first need to figure out what your desired body outcome is and pick only one of those outcomes for the next 180 days minimum. Don't allow yourself to think it can be fully achieved any quicker. The reality is that it usually can't.

Do you want to not only just get excited and motivated in the beginning with starting a diet, but also maintain that excitement and motivation to FINALLY achieve your weight loss goals?
Well, to ensure that happens, there are some things you need in place that will help you reach success... and will keep you motivated and consistent! And that's what I wanted to talk to you about today...
Below I'm going to share with you the top 4 "tools" that helped me along my journey to losing a whopping 52 pounds of fat in 8 weeks. I'm also going to talk about WHY these tools helped me so much...
Tool #1 -
First up is a journal. Why? Well, by keeping a journal of what I did everyday, the progress I was making, the roadblocks I may encountered, etc., this helped me immensely with staying motivated and focused.
In a short time after starting the journal, I remembered feeling the desire to ensure that whatever I put in the journal each day was 100% positive (such as defeating a craving urge, I consumed my daily recommended amount of water, I had a great workout, and more).
Tool #2 -
A large quality water jug. Why? Firstly, drinking more water each day is EXTREMELY vital for your weight loss success. Without drinking enough water each day, you run the risk of maintaining water weight, having digestive issues, not building lean muscle, having a slow metabolism, and more!
Secondly, in the beginning of my diet, I had a hard time staying consistent with drinking a lot of water. Therefore, I went and purchased an inexpensive large (74 ounces) water jug, filled it up with water in the morning, and kept it with me throughout the day. This made it easier for me to stick with drinking the recommended amount of water you have to drink (which is 1/2 your body weight in ounces).
Tool #3 -
A DIGITAL scale. Why? Well, the secret to getting crazy motivation to stay consistent with your plan, the number one thing to aim for is... RESULTS. However, if you have a regular scale, when you look on the scale, you may in fact see the same weight you were before... and this can cause you to lose motivation.
That's where a quality digital scale comes in.
With a digital scale, it gives you your exact weight (such as 234.4). It may not be much, but it sure does help motivation wise for example to see on one day 234.8, and then see 234.4 the next (a.4 drop in weight)!
Tool #4 -
A video recorder. Why? Video recording yourself really captures the essence of the way your current body weight and body shape is. And when you record yourself (such as walking towards the camera and then doing a 360 degree turn around) once a week, and you see the progress on film each time you record yourself, this will significantly increase your motivational levels!
What about dieting? Well, you can lose up to 10 pounds every 2 weeks with the Calorie Shifting Diet from Fat Loss 4 Idiots. This online fat loss diet helped me lose a whopping 52 pounds in 8 weeks simply by readjusting my eating patterns and eating fat burning meals (which are created for you with a diet generator program)!
