With all the gimmicks, weight loss products, exercise programs out there, how do you really decide what works and what doesn't. Well let me start by saying this, There is NO true "diet" pill that you can take and still eat whatever you want that will make you lose weight. Let me say that again, there is NO "majic" diet pill that will make you lose weight. Period! It just does not exist, and trust me I have tried them all. Sure you may lose a few pounds here and there but it eventually comes back and you usually only lose no more than 10 pounds, if that at all. The only true way to lose weight and keep it off is not by dieting, it is about changing your lifestyle.
You need to change your eating habits and your activity level. Weight just does not mysteriously disappear, although I wish it did but it is something you have to work at, just like you work at your marriage and raising your children, like you do when you work on a project for your job. You can start by changing the types of food you eat. Try to get away from the sugar, cut back on portions and eat lots of fruits and vegetables, whole grains and lean meats. If you decide to start an exercise program you need to choose one that suits your lifestyle and works best for you. Not everyone can do Zumba, maybe you have arthritis or an injury and you just can't do those particular exercises.
I personally like Tae Bo but one of the best exercises around is walking. It doesn't cost anything, except maybe a good pair of walking shoes, and it is easy on your knees and good for your heart. If you haven't exercised in awhile you will want to start out slow so you do not injure yourself. You can start by doing 20 to 30 minutes 3 times a week then increase it as you get stronger. (Please check with your doctor before starting any exercise routine.) A few other suggestions to help you with your weight loss is to keep a diary and write everything down. You can also get a friend to join in and help keep you accountable. Get your weight so you can keep track of how much you lose and set a realistic goal.
This is a start to help get you on the right track and to a healthier and happier you!
