When it comes to weight loss, most overweight people struggle to find a diet and exercise regime that works for them. However, it is my belief that most of these people also approach weight loss the wrong way.
It is important to understand that the battle to lose weight is not just about careful diet and exercise planning but also one's willpower, motivation and mindset. Weight loss is as much of a challenge mentally as it is physically and only when you master both sides of this coin you will begin to see better results.
However, before we go into the correct mentality, let's take a look at how to get a good diet in place. The key to a successful diet is eating below your body's current calorie maintenance level. By this I mean we need to eat less than what you burn off each day. There are several ways to do this but I find a mix of all of them produces the best results.
1. Give yourself smaller portions at breakfast, lunch and dinner. You should also try to cut out foods high in complex carbs and saturated fats.
2. Spread out you meals into six or seven smaller meals throughout the day.
3. Another way to keep your diet in check is to visit a nutritionist. These people really know their stuff and can give you some amazing advice and guidance on food and drink, which you can then use to plan out a more professional meal plan personalized for you.
4. Exercise is another ingredient we need to add into the mix to achieve quick weight loss results. You can't go wrong with plenty of cardio five days a week. Always allow at least one rest day so that your body can recover. If you are unsure about which cardio exercises to start off with, try jogging, swimming and cycling. Both of these is great for burning fat and toning up.
With diet and exercise covered, we now come to the final point of a solid weight loss plan. That is motivation and mindset. I feel having the right mentality when it comes to weight loss is one of the most important factors which will dictate if you are successful or not. If you approach your own weight loss journey with negative thoughts fresh in your mind, then you will fall at the first hurdle. A classic example of people who fail due to negative thoughts are the one's who hop from one proven diet plan to the next, while never seeing one through to the end.
If you can combine all four of the steps I have mentioned above then you are going to get to your ideal weight a lot quicker. A positive mindset, intensive exercise regime, and professional diet plan are all you need to lose weight.
