Can you ever really get your body back after pregnancy?

I love photos of new mothers after having their first baby because it always captures that moment in their life where they will never be the same, and they don't realize it yet. It's a certain look that I can't really pinpoint but it's something innocent and soft but strong and empowered, and it signifies the day their life will change forever.

Some people lose weight quickly after having a baby but in my case, even having lost the number of pounds I had gained, my body was never the same. After having my son, I had this little flabby tummy that just wouldn't tighten up, although I got away pretty lucky since I did yoga throughout my pregnancies, after 12 years of having an extra layer, I decided to get my body back.

The first thing I tried was to join a gym and doing some fitness classes, but was just plain boring and I couldn't stop watching the clock. It was social in a way, but I didn't get results.

Then I got back into yoga, and even organized a yoga classes in the park with some friends, but nothing seemed to change.

Finally, when I was just about to accept my body as unchangeable, a friend of mine introduced me to an extreme, 90 day home fitness program called P90X.

For me, the schedule and ease of exercising is what finally got me results. But everyone is different. I need the discipline and I couldn't afford a personal trainer.

Whatever method you use to transform your body will work if you commit and focus, but the key is to get your hands on something that will keep you on track and motivated while still having fun.

My husband and I have been doing our home program for 30 days now and both of us notice our muscle tone has improved and old muscles are starting to come back. I am actually surprised my husband like the program. He usually prefers things like mountain biking, skiing, or doing intense cycle workouts at the gym.

The thing I love the most about the program we chose is the fact that it's fun. There are 12 different DVD workouts and a schedule to follow. The workouts range from intense cardio, to yoga, to a fun martial arty thing called Kempo, to arm and shoulders, legs and back, and a few others including the one I love/hate the most... the extreme abs one.

I also noticed that my energy and clarity levels are much higher and that I find I get more done in a day, not less. That extra hour of sweat and heart pumping, actually gives me more time in my day! get sweating and watch your energy soar.

If you are wanting to get your body back, and are ready to commit to improving yourself, I highly recommend just getting started and doing whatever you choose regularly.

More and more, especially as I age, I realize how important it is to stay strong and maintain flexibility. It's just the best anti aging remedy ever. I see my mom having health issues now with her feet, joints, and weight, and think the only way to prevent some of those issues is to take good care of my body now.

Like they say 'an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure' (I think that's how it goes... ).

So take care of your most valuable asset, your health, and get your body back into the best shape of your life as soon as possible. You are worth it!
