Just like you, I am no expert, a doctor or anything. I am just a guy who wanted to shed some weight. Guess what? I did! This is no salesman-like website where I will give magic formulas to losing weight overnight. There is no instant way to do this. But what I can do is share valuable information on how you can lose weight. I will keep it simple so that it is easier to relate to.
I always had problems facing people. I felt they could sense the fact that I am overweight and I am definitely pissed about it! Out of the many problems in life-not being proud of whom you are and losing self respect is deadly! Trust me.
Once I had the guts to face the situation and figure out what led to the cause of the extra weight gain, I could easily move to the next step.
Now I don't know you personally so I am going to discuss some causes to weight gain. Once you read them I am sure you will find your cause. The good thing is that you have already decided to lose the weight. Once the decision is made, we're good to go!
1. GENES.
Genes have been known to cause obesity. If you notice carefully then you will find people who can control their weight. This is because they have a controlled appetite. Genes can actually play a part in increasing or decreasing your appetite.
2. OUR EATING HABITS
We are all unique individuals with our own unique food habits. Remember your childhood and the amazing food you had? I'm pretty sure that you still love them. You see sometimes we become too attached to those food habits that it is tough to let go.
Well those yummy, sugary, fatty food leads to excess calories in the body. News flash- too much calories is not good.
3. CALORIE ATTACK!
I mentioned a little bit about calories on the previous point. We all love food. Be it fried chicken or ice cream. These contain a lot of calories (energies) which lead to weight gain. Don't fool yourself into think that small portions of these would work. It won't. Bread, veggies and fruits contain low calories and could easily help shed the extra weight.
4. THAT THING CALLED 'EMOTION'
We all have that day when we get into a fight with the boss (and yes, it was the boss's fault!). It is not just about anger, sadness or a sense of loss, tension can often lead to extra calories. So what if that girl or boy or 'The one' dumps you for the other loser or if there is too much grief or tension in your life; remember to keep your emotions in control.
5. MEDICAL CONDITIONS AND MEDICATIONS
There are rare medical conditions that lead to weight gain. Take the Prader-Willi syndrome. No need to Google it, I'll explain and not get you bored hopefully. It's a genetic disorder that makes you eat too much. Why? Because it makes you feel that you have not eaten enough.
On the other hand there are brain tumors. If they occur in the appetite controlling area of the brain then it causes obesity. Don't worry, these are rare conditions.
Moreover, drugs that are used to treat mood disorders/ mood swings, high blood pressure etc can often result in weight gain. Drugs are also known to treat low mood which can increase appetite. They make you feel good and so you eat! Therefore, more weight.
6. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
Forget the TV and computer for a day. Those video games can wait. Those who work long office hours, well I am not telling you to quit but try to get physically active. Being lazy all day behind a monitor adds to extra weight. Try to jog, swim or ride a cycle for some time. It is fun too!
