Here are 6 quick tips to help you start losing weight today!

Sometimes life just gets crazy, especially if you are planning a wedding, and it seems there are not enough hours in the day. When things get like this, usually the first things to get neglected are your exercise time and healthy eating habits. We all know how quickly those extra pounds can sneak up on you, so this is why I wrote down 6 quick and easy ways to stop the weight gain and get the scale going in the other direction! Enjoy.

1) Plan and prepare your meals ahead of time

- There is a reason this is number one, because it is one of the most important things you can do to lose weight. This may sound tough but it is actually pretty quick and easy. First, start with preparing your lunches for the week ahead of time.

An idea would be grill some lean chicken breasts and put on top of some lettuce with fat free dressing. Store it in a Tupperware containers, which are easy to carry around. Also take some greek yogurt and another serving of fruits and veggies to snack on later. This will keep you full and not tempted to go out to eat or visit the snack machine.

2) Include more protein and less carbs in your diet

- The reason this is helpful for weight loss is that protein keeps you fuller longer, while carbs don't. Think of carbs as "instant energy" and protein as "long term energy". When you eat mostly carbs for your meals, the full feeling goes quickly and you are looking for more things to eat very soon after. Yet with protein you feel satisfied with your meal for much longer, leading to a lower calorie intake, which leads to weight loss.

Good protein sources are any kind of lean meats, protein shakes, quinoa, greek yogurt, etc... Make sure to pair these with a green vegetable of some kind, and you have a great fat burning meal!

3) Walk more!

- There are plenty of ways to do this without adding extra things in your schedule. For example: park farther away whenever going to work or the grocery store, or go on walks during any breaks you have during the day. This may not seem like it would do a lot, but if you are consistent the extra burned calories will add up and you will start to notice your clothes getting looser. Also the more you do this, you may just start to enjoy the extra walking time!

4) Only drink water

-Your body needs water! Chances are it needs more than you give it right now. The benefits to drinking lots of water are almost endless. It has been linked to increased metabolism, increased immune system, and weight loss. You need to be drinking around 9 cups per day. Two good ways to ensure you drink more water throughout the day are carry a reusable water bottle around with you, and don't have sodas, sweet tea, fruit juices in your house. If it isn't in your house you wont be tempted to drink it.

You get enough calories everyday from food, why drink more? Drink more water and, not only will you start slimming down, but you will notice you won't get sick nearly as often!

5) When sitting down, squeeze your core

- Try this! When you are sitting down during the day, at the computer, desk, etc... , try squeezing your abs in tight and keeping good posture for about 15 minutes and then take a break. Do this a couple of times a day. This simple exercise can keep you burning calories during the day, as well as strengthen your core and improve your posture.

Do this for a week or two and I promise you will notice a difference!

6) Make sure and eat breakfast!

- Start your day off with your biggest meal of the day! After you wake up your body has been in a fasting state for about 8-10 hours and you need to feed it. Get good clean sources of proteins, carbs, and fats. A great breakfast would look something like this: 2-3 eggs/ egg whites, a piece of whole grain toast (with smart balance butter), and an apple. Oatmeal is a great source of carbs for breakfast as well. Stay away from biscuits and bagels with cream cheese. Nothing puts on the pounds as quick as regularly eating those things for breakfast.

If you eat the right breakfast you shouldn't be too hungry until lunch time. Then you should eat the lunch you prepared earlier, and for dinner make sure to limit portion size. This is how you should be eating if you want to lose weight and cut down body fat!
