I hope you enjoyed trying out my first '5 Great Ways of Getting a Good Night Sleep and Losing Weight'! Here are some more sleep ideas to enhance effective weight loss for you. While exercising and a good diet is needed, sleep has been the unknown for so long. It's just now that doctors and nutritionists are realizing losing weight depends on the importance of sleep throughout the night as well. So what are you waiting for read on to find out more...
1- Never go to sleep with the TV on
When you fall asleep watching television you body is unable to go into a deep sleep as the constant noise of the television is always in the background interrupting it. You are also more than likely to go in and out of sleep as the noise of the television can change depending on what you were watching. The best way to avoid this is to keep the bedroom for sleeping and watch TV in another room.
2- Neutralize the noise
A leaking tap, people talking too loudly or a child coughing can interrupt your sleep. This might be due to you being a light sleeper anyway or being a parent, when you are often listening out for your children without really knowing it. Even if you are only awake for a short period of time, it's this interruption which makes you have a restless sleep and makes you feel that you have not had enough sleep. Try and make your house as quiet as possible eliminating the various noises.
3- Keep Pets Off the Bed
Pets on your bed are often like having a restless person next to you. They can move around a lot preventing you from settling into a deep sleep which is needed throughout the night. They can also bring unwanted things into your bed like fleas, pollen etc.., which can play havoc with allergies. Keep pets off the bed for a good deep sleep at night.
4- Relax before going to bed
Everybody needs a 'winding down' time before they go to bed. The days are very busy especially in the 21st century. If you don't unwind you will go to bed thinking about this and that throughout the day and keep your mind too active for sleeping. Or if you go to sleep your mind will wake you up throughout the night. The same goes for when you have something important on the next day, you will keep waking up throughout the night. Have you every gone on a holiday where you have to catch a plane at a certain time. You go to bed thinking I have to be at the airport by 4am how am I going to make it? What happen's if I sleep past the alarm clock? All these things play on your mind and you have a restless sleep. No wonder we end up with 'jetlag'. Therefore we need to relax our mind and body before we go to bed in order to have a good night sleep. Some people choose a bath, others read while some will use meditation to relax and unwind.
5- Exercise Regularly
If you do regular exercise throughout the week you to can improve your sleeping qualities. But you need to remember not to exercise too closely to bedtime. and to stop to stop vigorous exercise at least 4 hours before bed.
If you find some of these helpful use them if not adapt them to suit you lifestyle. Getting a good night sleep will help you lose those unwanted pounds and make you a fitter and healthier person both inside and out! Losing weight is your long-term goal, however if you put good eating habits, regular exercise and good night sleeps altogether you goal will be far easier to reach.
